To be the impossible

14 April 2009 at 2:50 pm (Main)

“Impossibility merely define our current limits”

We interrupt all theblood types  fun you are having with a more serious post…>_<…just so I can conclude the tripost.

***

So when God says that something is impossible, what do humans do? They go and prove that thing isn’t impossible. Maybe challenging impossibility is the defining trait of a human. If we ask mother nature on how well an animal with no notable natural defenses would do in the world. She would never have answered that humans with their only real asset of their brain would one day dominate Earth, with the power to even destroy all life on it.

Perhaps it is not the brain that is the true asset of humans. It could be that the undying will to challenge the boundaries of reality is truly what has brought Homo sapiens from a mere primate to the technological masterminds of today.

Maybe one day humans will challenge the authority of God himself and become the impossibility we regard as God. Or maybe humans will destroy themselves through their arrogance before that. Either way, the future holds many unseens, unknowns and impossbilities waiting for humans to witness, understand and conquer.

Blood Types: Part 1.6

12 April 2009 at 5:41 am (Jokes, Main, Side)

“I live, therefore I dream” OK, let’s give oxymoron categories a go today.

This one’s for fellow ABs out there as well as dreamers in general..=P

‘A study into blood types’

AB: “…”

224854

A: “Why is he like that?”
B: “What are you doing?”
O: “What? What?”

153516

AB: “Don’t you think that a monster lives in here?
*wretched laugh*

153515

Type AB’s spiritual world is very special.
Incomprehensible!
Incomprehensible!

We all know that ninja turtles live in the sewerage system…what’s so special about this comic?…>_<…lol. This is really interesting actually, I always think that I view the world in a different manner to most others. To be honest, I rarely dream at night…I don’t know why….but I just don’t dream…apparently I sleep talk though….weird…hehe. But the tradeoff is that I always dream in the daytime, it’s not really dreaming but rather trying to predict how future events would turn out.

The other thing is that I really like the fantasy genre, swords and magic! Even though I have a strong science background and I know that guns are more efficient at killing than swords and that the closest thing to a fireball spell is probably a nuclear bomb…any decent fantasy story would still get me addicted. Now the best mix in the fantasy genre would be a solid party of adventurers going through plenty of epic fights with odds stacked against the protagonists, always give enough comic relieve and a dash of romance. Why that mix?….well that’s probably how I see people live….working towards something no matter what stands in the way, having friends that can be relied upon even if they are different to you, able to have fun and laugh about experiences and finally being able to truly love and be loved in return. Oh and how can I forget…all good stories need a happily ever after ending! I know lots of people say that ‘happily ever afters’ are not realistic. But it’s a story, you want to feel good after finishing it. If you really want realism…I suggest go mourn your sad life.

Used to read a lot…but have gotten lazier…so now I just watch…>_<. Pity there isn’t a lot of fantasy adaptions in the western world…barring Lord of the Rings movies. So nowadays it’s a lot of anime for me….hehe. However I do want to mention some really good books here, well worth the read.

David Edding’s The Belgariad and The Malloreon
David Gemmel’s Various Series
Dragonlance Campaign Setting’s Chronicles
Forgotten Realm Campaign Setting’s Dark Elf Trilogy

These come to mind….others…Tamora Pierce is good for younger audiences, Terry Brooks (too heavy, it’s still good), Robin Hobb is pretty good too, never got around to Robert Jordan’s wheel of time (never found the books because the series is too long….>_<)….can’t remember any other names…

To know the unknown

30 March 2009 at 3:12 am (Main)

“Just because you don’t know, doesn’t mean you can’t know.”

Sometimes you wake up in the morning and you think to yourself: “Why am I getting up today? What am I getting up for?” The answer for me is always the same: “I don’t know”.
That might be a weird way to live, getting up each day not knowing what your purpose is. But if you think about it, the drive is curiousity. Even if you don’t know what you live for but you believe you have a purpose and because you want to find that purpose, you get up everyday. It does require a fair bit of faith though…=P
Maybe in the future, I’ll know what I don’t know now. And maybe I’ll wake up everyday with the same meaningful answer. For now though, I’ll settle with the unknown.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Ok so umm that bloodtypes post was kinda popular and I promised a Part 1 (yes I know my definition of soon = half a year). That Bloodtypes: Part 1 post I promise will be the next post and it will come in the next week.
To see the unseen
19 March 2009 at 5:34 pm (Main)
“When you fall down on the walkway, you bleed.
When you fall down in life, you cry.” – Minori, Toradora ep24
Ok normally I wouldn’t write about anime, there are already way too many of those blogs out there. But sometimes, something that someone does or says almost resonates with some core values and beliefs you have.
~
Minori Kushieda
To see your willpower, to be able to sense your own determination. Even if it meant you have to give up part of yourself, even if it meant you have to smile all the time and not cry when you want to cry. To be prepared with the resolve to endure all pains & hardships your chosen path brings. If someone else can also see your will, it would be the most precious gift ever. But even if no-one does, you are not ever going to give up.
But in the end you are still going to cry because perfection is impossible to achieve. However after you have cried, you can feel a part of you – a part that you thought you had left behind long ago. Even if it was sealed, it was always there and you realise you can draw comfort from it again whenever there’s a need.
~
Toradora’s a good anime in the emotional/romance/comedy categories, I recommend watching it. It’s only 25 eps with the last ep coming out next week. Whilst on this topic, Clannad & Clannad After Story is another amazing anime series, that you’d have to watch. And I should stop before I get into a long list of obscure shounen anime that no-one cares about….=P
Memory, will, hope
4 February 2009 at 11:00 pm (Main)
Better put some stuff on this blog…..it’s Feb already…>_<. Bloodtypes will come….eventually.
Small update, I leave the reader to figure out the message for themselves.
“The past is but a dream, the present is but an illusion and the future is but the unknown.”
The dream; I remember
The illusion; I endure
The unknown; I anticipate
Stopwatch
6 November 2008 at 10:49 pm (Main)
“Temporal standstill”
Ever had the feeling of time stopping around you? All you can do is peer back without being able to move forwards. You look at yourself 1 week ago, 1 month ago, 1 year ago…occassional glimpses of times further back. After months of (metaphorically) trying to beat those lap times and sometimes even trying to set a new personal best, you finally arrive at the finish line and yet all you can do is look back. The frozen time on the stopwatch is the only temporal sensation you feel.
It started with a light jog but gradually tapering off to a gentle waltz, you don’t need to race like the others, you got talent you can take it easy. The main group enters their final lap while you are a few laps behind and then you remember you took a handicap in this race. So you start sprinting – 80% , you find that it’s not as hard as you expected it – 90%, you get some tail wind from your friends – 100%, you gain a confidence boost by passing a few other runners – 110%, the obstacles in the way are overcome with ease – 120%. Just as you are about to overtake the main group, your body stops responding. Your mind tells you need to go on but your body just won’t move any faster – 70%. On the way you pass the exit, despite the lures of such a fast end you manage to muster willpower from somewhere within. Spurred by newfound determination, you reach speeds that you did not think was possible – 150%. In the end it was a photo finish.
You don’t really care what the results of the race is for now. You just look back and see the other racers finish the race too. They continue past you, while you live in your frozen time. A while later you realise that the stopwatch hasn’t stopped, it was only a split time. It seems during the time you were looking back, the others have gone further in front. You smile to yourself as you start with a light jog, thinking about how fast the next sprint to the finish will be. You may not be able to prevent the flow of time on a stopwatch but you can still go at your own pace, with your own style.
“In others we see fragments of ourselves”
This post may be a bit random…I can’t think of anything to write so I took a quote I made sometime ago and I will write about what I thought when I made that quote.
Peak hour on public transport:
Getting on a crowded train, you see all these people frantically attempting to find a seat often moving through many carriages to search for one. Then you see the odd person taking up two seats for no apparent reason. One seat-searcher politely asks the person using two seats to make room for them. They squish together, the seat-search now content that he/she is sitting now.
I think to myself:
“Have humans devolved so much that they can’t stand for half an hour anymore? Most people come from the office or school where they have been sitting for 8 hours except for maybe getting up to make that coffee or moving classrooms. So now they sit on the train, for 20-40min, then get off at their station. From their station they either drive, get a bus or walk home. I suspect most don’t walk and even if they do, they won’t be walking far. Why? Because if they need a seat for 20min, they won’t be able to walk for that long. So they eventually find their way home and then they sit on the couch and watch TV. I mean you won’t be standing much at home would you?
Then I wonder if I’ll be the same in a few years time? I’ve been told that when you get old you can really feel it in your body when you stand. I prefer to believe otherwise but time will tell.”
A few stations later:
An elderly person walks in. Squeezing past the crowd near the door, they reach seating areas. Then a nice person kindly offers their seat to the elderly person.
I think again:
“That’s something I’d do. What a nice person, I admire their consideration. This world isn’t doomed after all…..=P”
I know what it feels like to wake up on a bad morning and having to stand 1.5hours while traveling by bus, train, bus isn’t something what you’d look forward to. But other times when you feel better, maybe if you’ve been sitting the whole day, try to just stand and let others have the seats if the train is crowded. Otherwise the next time you see someone frantically searching for those seats, you could be looking at a vision of yourself.
Stars
2 October 2008 at 1:32 pm (Main)
‘Darkness hid the sun from sight,
Engulfing the world in night.
“Illuminate humanity”, bade Light,
And the skies blazed alight.’
This post took some time, life seems to be always busy…
But sometimes life gets so busy you don’t notice the little things that make life so interesting. Next time you go outside at night, take a little time to look above (weather permitting oif course…=P). Remember back when you were a little kid and asked your parents, “What are those lights in the sky?”. What did you think of those stars back then? Those shining torches floating far away in the sky, appearing so close that you can almost grab them and yet at the same time so far away that you don’t know exactly how far they are. Every night they would appear and slowly but surely crawl across the heavens.
Stars could be just a symbol for us, beckoning us with their twinkling while at the same time reminding us that we have a long way to go before we will be anywhere near them. This may be just like goals in our lives, the result beckons but to get there we need to ‘walk’ far. So when you get tired, look above and let those stars restore a little of your faith.
Just a little note before I finish. If anyone’s interested in a bit of star gazing without the smog from the city.  There is this nice country town called Coonabarabran, it has the best sky view in the state. So whenever you feel like getting mesmerised by those lights in the sky, might want to pay that town a visit.
Content
22 September 2008 at 8:08 pm (Main)
“To seek meaning; to find your heart’s content”
So after that brief intro earlier, let’s get started with something more substantial. So everyone noticed the pun with the word content? …>_< (Just a side note: I like puns, they allow me to be sneaky with what I say)But for now let’s talk about ‘meaningful’ things and leave the idea of satisfaction for a different time.
So what is meaningful to you? I am pretty sure everyone would agree that anything that makes an impact on their lives what be meaningful to them. Been able to show off some cool stationery in primary school, getting full marks for that random project in high school, cramming for your uni final the night before, having to do overtime at work, find that right person for you, looking after the kids. All those are the ‘contents’ of your life or would be life. So contents is basically what you have done, are doing or will do in the future.
Are you in truly in control of these contents in life? Do you go and select each and every little piece of content in your life or do are you drowned by the content dumped on you by others? Even though these are two extremes of one idea, somewhere along this line you will find your position.
For those in total control I shall ask: Is everything in your life so important that you have to be always the one to decide? What about the others that you have to push over to get your way? In the end is it really what you do that matters or is it just the fact that you get to choose that matters?
And for those who go with the flow: Are you afraid that your world would change if you did something that you chose? Would you rather be a perfect puppet or an imperfect puppeteer? In the end is it really what others think that matters or what you want do that matters?
All you see is questions and questions is all I am can offer. Perhaps take some time to pause and ask yourself some of those questions, if you can readily answer them then you have at least some idea of your life otherwise you should maybe rethink a bit more about yourself.
Poject: Reposit
“In the beginning there was nothing. Yet sometime, somewhere, somehow, from nothing; everything spontaneously came into being. ”
Greetings all,
This blog will be a repository for my thoughts on the world. Post style will vary (depending on what mood I am in) and post content will be even more random (I think). In general it’s just going to be an oddball of things for people to ponder over [while they procrastinate over whatever they are meant to do....=P]
