Blood Types: Part 2
One day at work, this person is cutting up some cake and someone else mentions that the dude is such a perfectionist. The dude replies back, “that’s because I am type A, they are known for perfectionism; that’s why I am so anal”. True to his words, we get dumped a lot of work by him because he wants to test every possible situation in existence. But what he was referring to was blood type personality which is quite popular in Asian countries. I’ve heard a bit about this from my parents, mum always mentions that she’s good at maths because she’s an A (she’s probably even more perfectionist than the dude…>_<). Dad’s a B and I am an AB…a bit of blood from both sides it appears…=P. Since I was bored awhile back I decided to do a little research into blood type personality.
Part 1 is coming soon, it will be a discussion about the science vs. superstition of blood types and also a comparison with astrology. This part is more fun, going to analyse my ‘personality’ according to blood type AB.

Type AB
Best Traits: Cool, composed, rational, sociable, convincing, popular, empathetic, intriguing
Cool, composed, rational – starting with 3 home runs(did I mention I was a little skeptical about this, seeing it had little scientific basis?..argh the rational side just got kicked hard…..T_T)
Sociable, convincing, popular – getting worse, definitely not my defining traits…>_<
Empathetic, intriguing – 2 more home runs
Worst Traits: Aloof, critical, often cold, indecisive, suspicious, secretive, solitarily, unforgiving, grudge-holding
Aloof, critical, often cold – well these are side effects of the first 3 best traits, nothing special here
Indecisive – this one went out of the park….omg probably one of my most defining traits but it has a back story to it so I’d say coincidence
Suspicious, secretive, solitary – I don’t know how these work with sociable and popular from before but these describe me well (under certain circumstances)…mwahahaha….
Unforgiving, grudge-holding – well if you do cross me, might need to watch your back for a long time….=P but that’s only for major betrayals
Element of Strength: Air – Wind is probably my favourite element
Season of Strength: Spring – Don’t really like summer and winter, then again don’t really care
Feeling of Strength: Thought – Mind over matter, this one’s me alright…especially with an interest in psionics…>_>
Arcana of Strength: Swords – OK, if you get to decide your weapons of choice?…..Mine would be two-weapon fighting: long and short blades or double medium blade….these strengths are almost uncanny
Sins of Fault: Lust, Wrath – Pretty common cardinal sins nothing really specific here
Summary: AB is, believed to be the ‘cursed’ blood, or ‘bad blood’. It’s considered undesired to have, mainly because it automatically predicts some great misfortune or early death that’s outright bizarre. Any fellow anime or video game fans will often notice that the cursed characters have this blood type.
Hmm….cursed blood…interesting because I have always thought that I am cursed in some way but not sure if blood type is the reason. On the upside, get to have the same blood type as cool anime characters like Kenshin, Kanda and Sasuke…<_<.
Someone with AB blood is considered unpredictable, as they are a combination of all the other types. In turn AB’s are believed to be more prone to disorders such as Schizophrenia and Multiple Personality Syndrome, or to being Bi-Polar. Being AB is also the latest blood type in human evolution, some believe it to be the ‘next generation’. Being the newest, AB is in turn the rarest blood type in the world, especially AB negative.
Look AB is a combination of A and B, so it must be unstable! I can really see how they came up with this…. Interesting that they mention multiple personality disorder here, I have a theory that everyone has some degree of multiple personalities (will explore this in an later entry). AB is indeed the latest blood type and is the rarest but it is hardly the ‘next generation’, will discuss this issue in Part 1.
It is hard to tell what an AB is thinking, or even who they really are half the time, as they are the best at facades; being able to randomly teeter back and forth between the highs and lows of an A, B, or O. They simply wear the façade they feel fits the occasion most appropriately. Many AB’s can take on a certain defined ‘role’ for public view, such as ‘the outcast’, ‘the clown’, or ‘the star student’. Anything to divert someone’s attention right where they want it to go. Because of this, AB’s can be very manipulative, but even through good means have no trouble getting others see things exactly the way they do. This is because they can, literally, see things from everyone’s POV. AB’s have the best social skills. They are good at convincing people, and fooling people. Like their personality, their intentions tend to teeter; back and forth between good and bad, right and wrong, heroic and villainous. Their personalities and opinions may seem to change from time to time. AB’s are mysterious, and tend to bear more secrets than the other types could ever imagine. They are often not what they appear.
Just when I thought I could strike this out…it goes and hits a few more out of the park. Façade is a very interesting concept, it’s the idea of wearing different ‘masks’ for different occasions. This can be done to achieve maximum environmental advantage for a situation, not something I’d expect to be restricted to ABs but surprised that it is mentioned here. The polar opposites strike another chord, oxymorons are a favourite of mine and they involve the combination of opposites. And finally, mysteries and secrets…….hmmm…….I think I am telling too many secrets here….better stop.

To conclude, here a list of blood types and general traits from our ‘ever-reliable’ Wikipedia.
Don’t dwell too much on this, and don’t go getting a blood test just because you get too curious about your blood type personality…=P.

Stopwatch
“Temporal standstill”
Ever had the feeling of time stopping around you? All you can do is peer back without being able to move forwards. You look at yourself 1 week ago, 1 month ago, 1 year ago…occassional glimpses of times further back. After months of (metaphorically) trying to beat those lap times and sometimes even trying to set a new personal best, you finally arrive at the finish line and yet all you can do is look back. The frozen time on the stopwatch is the only temporal sensation you feel.
It started with a light jog but gradually tapering off to a gentle waltz, you don’t need to race like the others, you got talent you can take it easy. The main group enters their final lap while you are a few laps behind and then you remember you took a handicap in this race. So you start sprinting – 80% , you find that it’s not as hard as you expected it – 90%, you get some tail wind from your friends – 100%, you gain a confidence boost by passing a few other runners – 110%, the obstacles in the way are overcome with ease – 120%. Just as you are about to overtake the main group, your body stops responding. Your mind tells you need to go on but your body just won’t move any faster – 70%. On the way you pass the exit, despite the lures of such a fast end you manage to muster willpower from somewhere within. Spurred by newfound determination, you reach speeds that you did not think was possible – 150%. In the end it was a photo finish.
You don’t really care what the results of the race is for now. You just look back and see the other racers finish the race too. They continue past you, while you live in your frozen time. A while later you realise that the stopwatch hasn’t stopped, it was only a split time. It seems during the time you were looking back, the others have gone further in front. You smile to yourself as you start with a light jog, thinking about how fast the next sprint to the finish will be. You may not be able to prevent the flow of time on a stopwatch but you can still go at your own pace, with your own style.
